How to Apply

Complete Educational Requirements ▾Earn a Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.

Pass the Praxis Examination ▾Take and pass the Praxis Subject Assessment in Speech-Language Pathology (test code 5331) with a score of at least 162.
Praxis SLP Requirements -
Apply for Provisional Licensure ▾If you are beginning your Clinical Fellowship (CF), you must apply for a provisional license to practice under supervision.

Complete Clinical Fellowship (CF) ▾Complete 1,260 hours of supervised postgraduate professional experience.

Obtain ASHA CCC-SLP ▾Apply for and receive your Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA, which is required for full Rhode Island licensure.

Submit Full Licensure Application ▾Submit the paper application for full SLP licensure to the Rhode Island Department of Health along with the $145 fee.
