Endorsement Steps

  1. Step 1

    Earn a Master's Degree in SLP

    Complete a master's degree or equivalent in speech-language pathology from a CAA-accredited program. Must include coursework in human communication processes and professional practice, plus 400 hours of supervised clinical practicum.

  2. Step 2

    Pass the Praxis Examination

    Achieve a passing score on the Praxis Examination in Speech-Language Pathology (test code 5331, score 162). Send scores directly to the board using agency code R7747.

  3. Step 3

    Complete Supervised Professional Experience

    Complete 36 weeks of supervised professional experience after degree completion. May be completed full-time or part-time within a four-year window. A Limited License ($70) is available for this period.

  4. Step 4

    Submit Application to NYSED

    Submit Form 1 (Application for Licensure), Form 2 (Certification of Professional Education), and Forms 4A/4B (Supervised Experience) with the $294 fee. Must also complete mandated training in child abuse identification and harassment prevention.
