Slow Downs

Incomplete Applications
Applications missing signatures, fees, or required attachments are returned, significantly delaying processing.
Missing License Verifications
Waiting for other state boards to send official license verifications is a frequent cause of delay.
Background Check Processing
Delays in the criminal history record check can occur if fingerprints are not submitted promptly or if there are issues with the vendor.
MPJE Failure
Applicants must pass the Maine MPJE before the Board will issue a license; failing requires a waiting period before retesting.
