How to Apply

  1. Complete Education and Clinical Practicum ▾
    Earn a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program and complete 400 hours of supervised clinical practicum.
  2. Pass the Praxis Examination ▾
    Register for and pass the Praxis Speech-Language Pathology exam (test code 5331) with a minimum score of 162.

    If you have not yet completed your postgraduate professional experience (Clinical Fellowship), apply for a temporary license to practice during your fellowship.
  4. Complete Postgraduate Professional Experience ▾
    Complete a 9-month full-time (or equivalent part-time) supervised postgraduate professional experience (Clinical Fellowship).
  5. Submit Initial License Application ▾
    Download and complete the 'Application Pack' for Speech-Language Pathologists. Submit it along with the $135 fee and required documentation to KDADS.
  6. Complete Criminal Background Check ▾
    Consent to and pay for a name-based criminal background check through the KDADS online portal.
