How to Apply

  1. Create a GOALS Account ▾
    Register for an account on the Georgia Online Application Services (GOALS) portal using your personal email address.
  2. Submit Online Application ▾
    Complete the online application for Physical Therapist licensure and pay the $75 application fee plus a $5 processing fee.
  3. Register for the NPTE ▾
    Register for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) through the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).

  4. Complete the GA JAM ▾
    Register and pass the Georgia Jurisprudence Assessment Module (GA JAM) through FSBPT. A score of 80% or higher is required.

    After submitting your application, register with Fieldprint GAPS for a criminal background check. Do not register until your application is on file.

  1. Verify Out-of-State License ▾
    Ensure you hold an active, unrestricted license in another state and have practiced within the last two years.
  2. Submit Reciprocity Application ▾
    Apply via the GOALS portal selecting the 'Reciprocity' or 'Endorsement' path.
  3. Request License Verifications ▾
    Contact all state boards where you have ever held a license and have them send verification directly to the Georgia Board.
  4. Complete GA JAM ▾
    All endorsement applicants must pass the Georgia Jurisprudence Assessment Module.

Fingerprinting Before Application ▾
Registering for fingerprints before the Board receives your application will result in a denial of the background check. Always apply for the license first.
Incomplete Documentation ▾
Applications are voided after 60 days if deficiencies are not corrected. Ensure all transcripts and scores are sent promptly.
Transcript Delivery Issues ▾
Transcripts must come directly from the school. Student-submitted copies are not accepted and will delay the review process.

Questions

How many continuing education hours are required for renewal? ▾
Licensees must complete 30 clock hours of continuing education every two years, including 4 hours of Georgia-specific ethics and jurisprudence (GA JAM).
When does my Georgia PT license expire? ▾
Licenses expire on December 31st of every odd-numbered year.
How do I report my continuing education credits? ▾
Georgia uses CE Broker for tracking and reporting continuing education. Licensees must create a free account to upload their certificates.
Can I practice while my application is pending? ▾
No. You may not legally perform physical therapy services in Georgia until your license has been officially issued and is active.
