Slow Downs

Expired Training Window
Candidates must pass the exam within 24 months of completing their training program; otherwise, they must retrain.

Missing ID at Exam

Questions

How much does the CNA exam cost in Connecticut?
The standard fee for both the Written and Clinical Skills exam is $118. If you choose the Oral exam option, the fee is $128.
How do I renew my Connecticut CNA certification?
There is no fee for renewal. You must have worked at least one 8-hour shift for pay in a nursing-related role in the last 24 months. Your employer must submit the Employment Verification Form to dph.nurseaide@ct.gov.
What happens if my CNA certification has lapsed?
If you have not worked as a CNA for more than 24 months, you must retake and pass both the written and practical exams via Prometric. You do not need to repeat the 100-hour training.
Is fingerprinting required for initial CNA registration?
Initial registration through Prometric does not typically require fingerprints, but Connecticut law requires long-term care facilities to conduct fingerprint-based background checks via the ABCMS portal upon hire.
